Sims, Lazerbeak : Future Shock from Red Wing, MN
Oct 29th
Sims, Lazerbeak, Cecil Otter, and Mike Mictlan of Doomtree played a show in Red Wing, MN as part of Caravan Du Nord, a project bringing acts from the Twin Cities to outstate Minnesota.
Bight Club at the Northrop
Aug 1st
Back on 7/22 Bight Club + Sims and Lazerbeak played a rescheduled show, due to being rained out on 7/15. I hadn’t heard of Bight Club before, and didn’t realize the singer was Spyder Babie until he took his hat off three or four songs in. I had heard a couple SBRD\2%Muck songs, and knew of SBRD from a few of his appearances with MDS, but really didn’t know much of the work. Right after the show I picked up Grime World, and Bight Club’s Dreamworld vs Minneapolis records right away. Hard to describe, except to say that it’s pretty fucking weird, and I dig it.
Bight Club’s website says this: “Bight Club MC Jeremy Nutzman and beatsmith Tony Rabiola don’t toy with subtlety. Instead, their hip-hop duo Bight Club gnashes its electric teeth and digs in with Nutzman’s AndrĂ© 3000-channeled flow. The result is a high-energy product that diverges from all other Twin Cities hip-hop sects. It manages an amalgamation of old (funk), recent (Outkast’s “ATLiens”) and a glaring newness. That is to say, it’s so far from boring.”
I’m not sure what all of that means, so check out a few videos here from their show and decide for yourself. You can see more on Bight Club at [their site] and Spyder Babie Raw Dog and 2% Muck on [TGNP's website].
Permanent Art & Design Group : Marijuana Deathsquads : Czeslaw’s Loop
May 21st
“Conducted by Ryan Olson (Gayngs, Totally Gross National Product) and Stef Alexander (P.O.S., Doomtree). The concept of desire and the creative “brainstorm” will inspire a 2+ hour multi-media composition featuring Isaac Gale, members of Marijuana Deathsquads, Martin Dosh, a fleet of drummers, musicians from numerous local bands, electronic overtures, and large scale projections, lights and motion visuals from Playatta, Dr.Clement Shimizu and the Elumenati Group.”

All of these videos were recorded from the dock in front of the set, with a pocket-camera, minor edits in Adobe Premiere. All videos are available in 720p, so I’d suggest you full-screen that bizness. Unless of course you’re prone to epileptic seizures, in which case I would suggest you find some different videos to watch.
Marijuana Deathsquads at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts
May 20th
These were recorded Friday at the MIA. All videos available in 1080p, so I’d suggest you fullscreen and turn up the HD.
All videos use a Canon G12, the second video uses some video mini mode the camera has, which I had never tried before, and didn’t realize it would be silent. That video is using Ghostcop from the Daytrotter session, available here for free: http://www.daytrotter.com/dt/marijuana-deathsquads-concert/20054687-3738338.html
