These are a handful of photos from my trip to Tettegouche State Park, on the northwest shore of Lake Superior. This is one of my favorite parks, and one I’ve returned to several times. You can see some more shots I’ve done at this park from 2008 and 2009. They hadn’t had any rain in a couple of months when we were there this year, and the difference in the High Falls is obvious.

The first six photos are pretty straightforward snaps from during the day in the park. The remainder were all long exposures at night. Film pictures coming … when I have time to develop them.

Lamborghini Gallardo Video

This was my first foray into doing better vehicle videos for our Twin Cities Luxury Auto store. Had some fun working on this, and definitely learned some lessons for the next video. I’ve included the video below, but you can check out the full post with writeup on the TCLA blog.

This was shot with a combination of Canon G12, and GoPro HD Hero cameras, and edited in Final Cut Pro.

Bight Club at the Northrop

Back on 7/22 Bight Club + Sims and Lazerbeak played a rescheduled show, due to being rained out on 7/15. I hadn’t heard of Bight Club before, and didn’t realize the singer was Spyder Babie until he took his hat off three or four songs in. I had heard a couple SBRD\2%Muck songs, and knew of SBRD from a few of his appearances with MDS, but really didn’t know much of the work. Right after the show I picked up Grime World, and Bight Club’s Dreamworld vs Minneapolis records right away. Hard to describe, except to say that it’s pretty fucking weird, and I dig it.

Bight Club’s website says this: “Bight Club MC Jeremy Nutzman and beatsmith Tony Rabiola don’t toy with subtlety. Instead, their hip-hop duo Bight Club gnashes its electric teeth and digs in with Nutzman’s André 3000-channeled flow. The result is a high-energy product that diverges from all other Twin Cities hip-hop sects. It manages an amalgamation of old (funk), recent (Outkast’s “ATLiens”) and a glaring newness. That is to say, it’s so far from boring.”

All of these videos were recorded from the dock in front of the set, with a pocket-camera, minor edits in Adobe Premiere. All videos are available in 720p, so I’d suggest you full-screen that bizness. Unless of course you’re prone to epileptic seizures, in which case I would suggest you find some different videos to watch.

All videos use a Canon G12, the second video uses some video mini mode the camera has, which I had never tried before, and didn’t realize it would be silent. I was working at Bentley Minneapolis \ Maserati of Minneapolis back in 2008 when Luis Fraguada and Tyler Christopherson contacted me to see if I would be interested in getting involved with a new monthly show they were starting. Luis had recently returned to Minnesota after living in Arizona for a few years, and wanted to start a Cars and Coffee show similar to what they had in Scottsdale. What started with 30 guys in a Caribou parking lot has turned into the biggest show of it’s kind with over 500 cars, and 1500+ spectators coming each month to enjoy the show.

With increased interest came increased needs. Morries Automotive Group signed on as a title sponsor for the 2011 season, and as part of this sponsorship I agreed to get an official website setup, and consult on their social media initiatives. We started with a pretty simple design brief, looked at a few websites that they liked, and just in time for the first show, the new site went live in mid March. It runs on a self-hosted WordPress platform, with a fully customized theme.

A big push for 2011 is the further development of our presence on social media. My plan to execute this is based around a robust blog, forming the hub of our content to be disseminated out through various channels. Full articles with photos, video, etc will appear first on the blog, before being re-shared on Facebook and Twitter. This is primarily to establish content ownership, and for SEO value. This will give us a channel to promote our philanthropic activities alongside our events and manufacturer news.

This is a self-hosted WordPress blog, using a highly customized Mystique theme. (I re-use this theme with different customization on this website, as well as the TCLA blog)
